Hi my name is Becky Hewish
I began my love of hairdressing even before leaving school, starting my apprenticeship at 15 when I got my first job as a Saturday girl in Beaux Cheveux. On leaving school I went to work for them full time, completing my NVQ 2 at Weymouth college and then building up my client base whilst completing my NVQ level 3. On finishing my training, I moved to ‘Aura’ in Dorchester where I spent the next three and a half years, honing my skills and developing my product knowledge including attending in house training days, a L’oreal creative cutting course and completing a L’oreal creative cut & finishing diploma. During this time I had the pleasure to work beside Tanya Hawker and Louise Baker, two of the other senior stylist’s I now work with at Dorchester Hair studio.
With over 11 years experience, I have grown in confidence and product knowledge, creating my own secure client base which was partly why in 2012, having been asked many times to visit people’s homes, I decided to become self employed and venture out on my own. Renting a chair at Dorchester Hair studio I was able to work part time at four days and also do mobile hairdressing, regularly; washing, setting, cutting, restyling, perming, blow drying and colouring.
I have taken three short breaks over the years to have my three children Evie, Rex and Lacey.
I love hairdressing and I love being a mum too and as I believe it is important to spend time with my children while they are little, working for myself gives me the flexibility to spend time with them, whilst maintaining my skills and a loyal clientele. I now work in the salon every Thursday and Saturday.
